Kanan's IELTS training in Bangalore (Digital / Online) follows the latest IELTS syllabus jointly developed by the British Council, IDP: IELTS Australia, and Cambridge Assessment English. The IELTS test has two test types: Academic and General Training and covers four sections: Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking, with a total test duration of approximately 2 hours and 45 minutes. The syllabus is designed to evaluate your ability to understand and use English in real-life academic and general contexts.
The IELTS Listening test in 2025 is designed to assess your ability to understand spoken English in various real-life contexts. It includes four audio recordings featuring both conversations and monologues drawn from social, educational, and academic situations. The test consists of 40 questions and lasts approximately 30 minutes, with an additional 10 minutes provided to transfer your answers to the answer sheet.
Recording 1: A conversation between two people in a social context (e.g., booking a hotel or planning a trip)
Recording 2: A monologue in a daily social setting (e.g., a speech about local services or tourist spots)
Recording 3: A conversation involving 2 to 4 speakers in an educational or training context (e.g., a student-tutor discussion)
Recording 4: A monologue on an academic topic (e.g., a university lecture or research presentation)
The IELTS Reading test in 2025 focuses on essential reading skills such as skimming for the main idea, scanning for specific information, and understanding detailed arguments and opinions. The test consists of 3 long passages and 40 questions, to be completed in 60 minutes without any extra time for transferring answers. The syllabus is slightly different for the Academic and General Training modules but both assess your ability to interpret and analyze written English from various sources.
The IELTS Writing test for both Academic and General Training includes two tasks, to be completed in 60 minutes. Task 1 differs between the two versions, while Task 2 is common. This section tests your ability to express ideas clearly, organize information logically, and use appropriate grammar and vocabulary.
IELTS Academic Writing Task 1: You’ll describe and summarize visual information such as graphs, tables, charts, or diagrams. Your response should be a minimum of 150 words.
IELTS Academic Writing Task 2: You’ll write a 250-word essay presenting an argument, opinion, or solution to a given problem.
IELTS General Writing Task 1: You’ll write a formal, semi-formal, or informal letter, depending on the context. The letter may involve requesting, explaining, or justifying something, and must be at least 150 words.
IELTS General Writing Task 2: Just like the Academic version, this task requires you to write a 250-word essay on a topic, supporting your opinion with relevant examples.
The IELTS Speaking test evaluates your ability to communicate clearly in English through a face-to-face interview lasting 11–14 minutes. The examiner assesses your fluency, coherence, vocabulary range, grammatical accuracy, and pronunciation. The test is divided into three parts, each focusing on different types of conversation to measure how well you express ideas, respond spontaneously, and speak with confidence.
Part 1 - Introduction and Interview (4-5 minutes): The examiner asks general questions about your background, hobbies, studies, or work to check your ability to handle everyday conversations.
Part 2 - Individual Long Turn (3-4 minutes, including 1 minute preparation): You get one minute to prepare and then speak for up to two minutes on a given topic, testing your ability to develop ideas and speak without hesitation.
Part 3: Discussion (4-5 minutes): You’ll engage in a deeper discussion related to the topic from Part 2, where your ability to explain opinions and discuss abstract ideas is assessed.
In our IELTS training classes In Bangalore, you will be given expert training to crack all the above four modules with high band scores.

IELTS (International English Language Testing System) is a globally accepted English proficiency test required for study, work, or immigration in English-speaking countries like the UK, Canada, Australia, and more. It is jointly conducted by IDP, British Council, and Cambridge ESOL, and accepted by 10,000+ institutions and organizations worldwide.
The IELTS Test format assesses four key skills: Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking. It has two types: Academic and General Training, lasts 2 hours and 45 minutes in total. Over 3 million candidates take IELTS annually to achieve their study abroad, PR, or career goals. IELTS scores are reported on a band scale of 0 - 9 and are valid for 2 years.
At Kanan International, we provide expert-led IELTS coaching in Bangalore with custom study plans, helping students crack the test with high band scores in their very first attempt.
IELTS is designed to evaluate a candidate’s real-world ability to understand and use English in academic, work, or migration contexts. It assesses your proficiency across four key modules including Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking, with each scored on a band scale from 0 to 9 in increments of 0.25, 0.5, or 0.75.
Your overall band score is calculated by averaging the scores of all four modules. The final result is:
Rounded up to the nearest half-band if it ends in .25
Rounded up to the next whole band if it ends in .75
Here’s what each band score means:
| Band | Proficiency Level | Description |
| 9 | Expert user | Fully operational command; accurate, fluent, and shows complete understanding. |
| 8 | Very good user | Fully operational with rare unsystematic errors; handles complex argumentation well. |
| 7 | Good user | Operational command; occasional inaccuracies and misunderstandings in some situations. |
| 6 | Competent user | Effective command; some inappropriate usage and errors; copes well with familiar topics. |
| 5 | Modest user | Partial command; frequent errors but handles basic communication in its own field. |
| 4 | Limited user | Limited competence; frequent breakdowns in understanding and expression. |
| 3 | Extremely limited user | Conveys and understands only general meaning in very familiar situations. |
| 2 | Intermittent user | Great difficulty with comprehension and expression in English. |
| 1 | Non-user | Non-user; only uses isolated words. |
| 0 | Did not attempt test | The test taker did attempt the test. |
